THE VALLEY OF DECISION

adventure-clouds-daylight-130111 2.jpg

Have you ever thought back about the moment you decided to ask Jesus into your heart? It was then, at that point in your life that you turned your life over to Jesus. Where would you be today if you had not said yes to Him? I have often asked myself that and am so humbled and blessed that I made the right decision. There will be indicators when your heart is leading you there. I remember as an unbeliever living in the Eastern mountains of Rhodesia, (now Zimbabwe), on the border of Mozambique, where missionary Heidi Baker now has orphanages. But in 1974, I was a macadamia nut farmer in the Vumba, (African for rain forest), 25 miles up a cliff from the nearest town. Where I lived overlooked five mountain ranges, it was a beautiful wild African landscape. But as stunning as it was, I remember standing out on a cliff and crying out to God, “There must be more to life than this….”  Within three years I was born again. How many of your friends or family are being led into salvation? When you see flowers begin to bloom, don’t wait, don’t hesitate, start to pray and see how He leads you. It may not be you saying anything, but it WILL be your prayers that bring them in.  Go for it.  Nothing is impossible with Him, just praying His promises.

Joel 3:14-16 AMP

“Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision!
For the day of the Lord is near in the Valley of decision….the Lord is a refuge for His people and a stronghold of protection to the children of Israel.”

NO FEAR HERE

adventure-awesome-cliff-1152044 2.JPG

Years ago as a radio news director in Las Vegas, I loved to witness to anyone I could about Jesus. However at this Country and Western station I worked at, this was not always the best strategy, since they were more interested in promoting beer busts and Loretta Lynn. So the management would take turns trying to upset me right before a broadcast at the top of the hour, a sure way to get fired in broadcasting.

One day it was ten minutes before ten, I was in tears after being unfairly berated, and I decided to call my associated pastor for counseling.  She quickly advised, ‘Mary, open your bible and start to read. God will quicken scripture to you and calm you down….’ I dove into a little pocket amplified I had in my purse and sure enough, the crisis was over. His words in your bible are full of life. When you are in any kind of situation, He is right there for you if you will take the time to open the Word. Or turn on the app on your phone. He will speak to your heart and give you peace. After all, Jesus is the Prince of Peace.

“And in no way be alarmed or intimidated in anything by your opponents, for such constancy and fearlessness on your part is a clear sign, a proof and seal for them of their impending destruction, but a clear sign for you of deliverance and salvation, and that too from God.” Phil 1:28 AMP

ANIMATED BY HIS SPIRIT

IMG_4967 2.jpg

When you didn’t know the Lord, His Spirit was already dealing with you. You may have said in your intellectual mind like I did, ‘What possible difference could accepting the Lord make in my life?’ Your mind wars against your spirit before AND after you get saved, but at least afterwards your spirit is alive unto God and can feed on the Word of God to uplift and sustain you.

But as you know now, accepting the Lord into your heart changes everything, all your wants and desires. Because He is at the guiding light of your life instead of alcohol, drugs and relationships.

Take a look at Galatians 5:16

“My counsel is this: Live freely, animated and motivated by God’s spirit. Then you won’t feed the compulsions of selfishness. These two ways of life are antithetical, so that you cannot live at times one way and at times another way according to how you feel on any given day. Why don’t you chose to be led by the Spirit and so escape the erratic compulsions of a law-dominated existence?”

Your life is propelled, moved and motivated by the Spirit of the living God, especially as you meditate on His Word. Let Him talk to you today.

THE LIFE OF FREEDOM

readingg.jpg

“The person who accepts the way of circumcision trades all the advantages of the free life in Christ for the obligations of the slave life of the law. I suspect you would never intend this, but this is what happens. When you attempt to live by your own religious plans and projects, you are cut off from Christ, neither our most conscientious religion or disregard of religion amounts to anything.  What matters is something far more interior: faith expressed in love…”

Gal 5:3-6 msg

The more you get into Jesus and His word, the more freedom you experience in your life.  Once you ask Him into your heart and His love starts to flood your life, all you want to do is to give that love away.  People say to me, Mary, when did you become so religious? And I gently correct them, saying ‘I don’t have religion, I have a relationship.’ Like Galatians says above, religion weighs you down with the “Obligations of the slave life of the law…” but Jesus offers you the free life in Christ.  The most miserable people you know can turn into the most joyful with a smile on their face when they are in relationship with Him. So go and express your love to someone today who is hurting and watch their countenance change. Your heart will be encouraged.

SIT DOWN AND SIMPLIFY

bench-freedom-grass-258145.jpg

Are you overloaded and just taking on more responsibility than you can manage?

Time to sit down and simplify. That’s what Moses had to do when he was getting worn out by judging too many people. People were standing before him all day long, from morning until night. His father-in-law Jethro warned him that he would wear himself out if he didn’t start delegating responsibility to others who could judge. The Lord doesn’t expect you to do it all. As a matter of fact God often requires His people to become pro-active in order to reclaim their land and achieve their dreams.

Is there some area of your business and/or personal life where you have been accepting mediocrity and chaos? If so, this spring could be a good time to break with the old and embrace the new.

"The thing that you are doing is not good. You will surely wear out." Exodus 18:17-18 (NASB)

THE BREAKTHROUGH

Blog.jpg

The minute the Philistines heard that David had been made king over a united Israel, they went out in force to capture David. When David got the report, he marched out to confront them. On their way, the Philistines stopped off to plunder the Valley of Rephaim. David prayed to God: “Is this the right time to attack the Philistines? Will you give me the victory?” God answered, “Attack; I’ll give you the victory.” David attacked at Baal Perazim and slaughtered them. David said, “God exploded my enemies, as water explodes from a burst pipe.” That’s how the place got its name, Baal Perazim (Baal-Explosion). The Philistines left their gods behind and David ordered that they be burned up.

1 Chronicles 14:8,10-11 MSG

Interestingly enough the amplified version says “God has broken through my enemies like the breakthrough of waters.” When you think how water, that simple H2O molecule, can break into the most impenetrable places as the force of a hurricane, monsoon or tsunami pushes it, it is no wonder that God could do the same thing for David as He can for you.  But look at the qualifier here: David’s breakthrough depended on him “praying to the Lord,” or inquiring of the Lord, as the amplified version puts it. People get impatient when they don’t see prayer answered right away, and some people even turn their back on the Lord.  Which I find ridiculous since your problem is with the devil, not God.  Remember how Daniel had to wait 21 days for his answer even though the angel had it in hand the day he prayed? Many times the only way your breakthrough is going to come is by you dropping to your knees. Surrendering your mind, will and emotions to the Lord will cause you to enter into His rest.  And that is where you will receive your breakthrough.

THE INVISIBLE MOVES THE VISIBLE

blog1.jpg

When you consider the fact that you are a spirit, you have a soul (which is your mind, will and emotions) and you live in a body, let’s consider the law of first mention here.  This is the principle that requires you to go to scripture where an event or doctrine is mentioned for the first time in the Bible. This principle also means you study the first occurrence of that mention, so you can grasp its fundamental meaning.

See, you are essentially a living spirit and you will live eternally in whichever realm you choose during your short term here on earth. The Message version of John 3:5-8 poetically describes the Holy Spirit as the “wind-hovering-over-the-water.” This is not something you comprehend with your natural mind, it can only be understood through your spirit.  Did you ever try to read the Bible before you were born again?

It made no sense at all to your unregenerated thinking.  But once you asked Jesus into your heart, the words off those pages started to speak to you about your own personal life. That is the invisible Voice of the Lord echoing through these pages. How else could a man or woman become so changed in their thinking except by renewing their mind in a book that has been the world’s best seller for 2000 years.  And why is that? Because, like John 1: 1-5 says, Jesus speaks directly to your soul as you read His word.

“In the beginning [before all time] was the Word ([a]Christ), and the Word was with God, and [b]the Word was God Himself. 2 He was [continually existing] in the beginning [co-eternally] with God. 3 All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him not even one thing was made that has come into being. 4 In Him was life [and the power to bestow life], and the life was the Light of men. 5 The Light shines on in the [c]darkness, and the darkness did not understand it or overpower it or appropriate it or absorb it [and is unreceptive to it].”

5-6 Jesus said, “You’re not listening. Let me say it again. Unless a person submits to this original creation—the ‘wind-hovering-over-the-water’ creation, the invisible moving the visible, a baptism into a new life—it’s not possible to enter God’s kingdom. When you look at a baby, it’s just that: a body you can look at and touch. But the person who takes shape within is formed by something you can’t see and touch—the Spirit—and becomes a living spirit.

7-8 “So don’t be so surprised when I tell you that you have to be ‘born from above’—out of this world, so to speak. You know well enough how the wind blows this way and that. You hear it rustling through the trees, but you have no idea where it comes from or where it’s headed next. That’s the way it is with everyone ‘born from above’ by the wind of God, the Spirit of God.”

STAND YOUR GROUND

Step.jpg

We have a lot to be thankful for, even if all we are doing is breathing.  There may have been a truckload of garbage dumped on you mentally, but the best way you dig your way out of it is to stand your ground. Find someone else who is worse off than you are and pour His life into them. Soon the overflow will fall onto your situation, especially when you combine it with an attitude of gratitude.

Some people living in Hawaii’s Big Island near the volcano have lost their homes, with the memories, gone forever. The lava flows have destroyed over 70 structures, 12 of them family homes. We have the privilege of helping them recover this week as we minister to some of them during the Arise Hawaii Conference May 18-19. Join us if you can at the beautiful campus of YWAM in Kona, Hawaii, all day Friday and Saturday this week. We definitely understand if this is not possible but appreciate your prayers for the 20 Diamond Girls we sponsor this week to reach a new revelation of the goodness of God. Remember to “stand your ground” and let Him show you the way out.

Blessings to you.

Love,

Mary

1 COR 15:57-58
With all this going for us, my dear, dear friends, stand your ground. And don’t hold back. Throw yourselves into the work of the Master, confident that nothing you do for him is a waste of time or effort.

RELAX AND SURRENDER

It is so interesting when you are facing a seemingly overwhelming situation: It is not you but the Lord working through you. Once you relax and surrender it to Him, His Holy Spirit is the great epicorego or your choreographer. The stage has been set: It is up to you to step out on it.

"I came to you in [state of] weakness and fear and great trembling. And my message and my preaching weren't unpersuasive words of wisdom [using clever rhetoric], but they were delivered in demonstration of the [Holy] Spirit [operating through me] and of [His] power [stirring the minds of the listeners and persuading them]. so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom and rhetoric of men, but on the power of God." PRIORITIZING HIS PRESENCE

Gods Precsence.jpg

There was a lady on an overseas trip that got so engrossed in her quiet time with the Lord that she missed breakfast in the hotel where she was staying. But while she was in her room, a horrific terror attack took place in the hotel restaurant where she was supposed to eat. If she had not lost track of time, she would have been in the wrong place at the wrong time. But she was led to linger in His presence that morning. She put her time with the Lord first over eating breakfast.

You will always be dwelling in the Secret Place of the Most High if you include Jesus in your schedule. You can be responsible and be led at the same time, just make sure it is the Spirit leading you. If you are always late for work because you are “led by the Spirit” to be doing something else, you can expect to be fired. When the Lord is leading you, you will have good success and victory.

I remember driving home from our friend’s ranch in central California one day. We had had a great time with them, and my husband Keith was driving and our son David was fast asleep in the back seat. All of a sudden a tire fell off the fifth wheel trailer we were next to. It started heading at us, and turned horizontal towards the windshield as if it would smash through the glass and kill us both. At that moment I cried out “Jesus help us! Jesus Jesus! “All of a sudden it was like an angel lifted us up in the air, the tire went under the engine, and we were literally carried off safely onto the center median of the freeway. We got out of the car stunned on how God’s protection saved us from an untimely accident.

His Name is above every name.  If you can only remember the Name of Jesus when a crisis hits you, shout it out. Your bold declaration will save you from any situation. Trust in the Lord’s protection, pray a line or two from Psalms 91 and watch the Lord direct you. “A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you….”

PRAY FOR THE RIGHT THING TO HAPPEN

rays.jpg

This week I was scuba diving with my daughter in the Indonesian islands after ministering in Taiwan and Singapore. The Holy Spirit prompted me to pray for Right Happenings. Like Abraham’s servant who was sent to go and find a bride for his son Isaac, Gen 24:12. Of course, the servant didn’t know which girl would be the right one, so he prayed, ‘Oh Lord God of my master Abraham, please give me success this day, and show kindness to my master Abraham.” The phrase “please give me success” translates to the word qarah. Qarah in Hebrew means “right happening.” And of course the servant found an excellent wife for Isaac. So I also prayed this prayer, and as soon as I came out of the cabin, everyone on board was shouting “look look.”There were 30 Modular rays jumping out of the water at once. They continued to put on a show around the bay about ten times in a row. The boat crew said they had never seen anything like that in the three years this boat has been taking people around these islands. The right thing happening at the right place. Do you need some right happenings in your life? God wants to keep you safe and at the right place at the right time. You can do so much, but only the Lord can protect you 100% of the time. Pray Psalms 91 and let Him lead you on the wavelength of peace.

PARTICIPATE – DON’T SPECTATE

040218_helping.jpg

Rom 15:1-2 Msg “Those of us who are strong and able in the faith need to step in and lend a hand to those who falter, and not just do what is most convenient for us. Strength is for service, not status. Each one of us need to look after the good of the people around us, asking ourselves, “How can I help?”

Christianity is not a spectator sport. Jesus got involved with the lowest of the low and helped them at their very moment of need, like the woman caught in the act of adultery and was about to be stoned to death. After our little town of Montecito was deluged by mudslides in January, 23 people were killed, and over 400 houses were destroyed. It was amazing to see how whole churches turned out and helped. There were 20-30 foot piles of mud on the side of the streets, as well as covering the houses. But people came forward on Saturday mornings with rubber boots and shovels to sift through the mud for peoples’ belongings that had been carried away in the wave of sludge that poured down the mountain through the town.

Have you got anyone in your life that needs help, comfort, or encouragement right now? It is amazing how a simple text can brighten someone’s day. Ask the Lord who He has in your path that needs a lift. He will bring someone to you that may not have made it through the day without your smile, laughter and joy.

FAVOR IN THE STORM

amazing-lighthouse-landscape-photography-36.jpg

We experienced hopefully the last storm of the season in Southern California last week and it was a doozy.  With an appointment in Los Angeles, we had to drive 90 miles south through blinding rain and hydroplaning cars. Since SoCal gets so littlerain, drivers are unused to it and might as well be in a Minnesota snowstorm the way they try to navigate the freeway. We finally had to get off the road and wait for the squall to calm down before going any farther, and that was the favor of God we did that. When we continued on about two hours later, the havoc of cars strewn by the side of the road was evidence we had made the right decision.

When you face a difficult situation in your life, you have all these obstacles, remember to ask the Lord for favor to show you the way out. The favor of God is what is pushing back the darkness, it is what protected us in a near accident last week.  Favor surrounds you like a shield FROM the storm. It doesn’t come and go. It is with you in the good times and the tough times and will cause you to walk out of situations smelling like a rose.

MIGHTY GOD

wings.jpg

When you start hunting down the Presence of God, your life starts to change.  The enemy is so subtle, he tries to make you think seeking first the kingdom is not important. But the last part of that verse says “ And all these things will be added unto you.” The Lord desires you to come under His wings, into a place of safety.  He is a mighty God and He wants to show himself strong on your behalf. But you have to move in His direction. He is waiting there for you.

“Let those on the hunt for You sing and celebrate; Let all who love your saving way say over and over, “God is mighty!” Ps 70:4

HOUSEHOLD SALVATION

red-heart-love-eyes-wallpapers-2560x1440.jpg

Peoples’ eyes might be blinded to the glorious gospel of truth but they are not blind to unselfish acts of love.  When the Lord says the love of God draws people to salvation, that is the truth.  Your conduct is a bigger witness than your words. What did St Francis of Assisi say? Unsaved or backslidden people may brush off your words but they can’t ignore your kindness. Usually when a person is rude to you, that’s because he is taking his problems out on you. One time in the 80ties Keith and I were going to a conference at the Desert Inn Hotel in Las Vegas. As we pulled up to park, a picket line of striking workers blocked our way.  A man jumped out of the crowd, came up to the car, looked at me, and said to Keith, “Is that your pro-?” Keith looked at him compassionately, realizing what spirit was behind that remark. He said to this worker on strike, “Jesus really loves you…” The man walked away speechless.  The Name of Jesus is a powerful tool in your arsenal. ACTS 16: 31-34 AMP

Acts 16:31 The Message (MSG)
29-31 The jailer got a torch and ran inside. Badly shaken, he collapsed in front of Paul and Silas. He led them out of the jail and asked, “Sirs, what do I have to do to be saved, to really live?” They said, “Put your entire trust in the Master Jesus. Then you’ll live as you were meant to live—and everyone in your house included!”

SHAKE IT OFF

shakeitoff_1x.jpg

Do you have other peoples’ criticisms and judgments hanging in the back of your mind like dirty laundry? That indicates you are thinking about the current problem, not the answer. Someone might hurl insults at you at work, or you have a relative that verbally trashes you at every opportunity. But when you allow the resurrection power of the Lord Jesus Christ to rise up in you, nothing can keep you down. You might BE down but when you meditate on the power of His word within you, it explodes all barriers to faith inside of you.

That’s what Paul did when the viper jumped out of the fire and bit his hand. The Apostle was busy gathering sticks to make a fire and dry his clothes when a poisonous snake, driven out of the flames, suddenly laid hold on his hand. But Acts 28:1-5 says Paul simply shook it off into the fire and “suffered no evil effects…” We have to do the same when situations try to bite us – we need to be bold and shake it off. Whatever troubles you from the past, shake it off. God has a great plan for your future. There is no room for the snakebites of the past, even if it was yesterday.

MAGNETIZED

magnet 022218.jpg

When you magnetize a metal object, you create an invisible force that causes it to be attracted to other metal objects. This attachment occurs automatically without any effort on the part of the magnet.

When you are a tither and a giver, an invisible force operates like the magnet in your life as you are generous in your giving. You will be blessed abundantly above what you ask or think.

THE EASTERN GATE

IMG_2544.jpeg

It was such a surprise and a blessing to be asked to join 32 ministers on the Christians United for Israel tour to that wonderful country last month. One thing that really struck me was the Eastern Gate of the old city of Jerusalem. It has remained sealed now for nearly 500 years, and a Jewish cemetery blocks the entrance.  The Jewish people buried there believe that the Messiah will come through those gates, they are just not aware that Messiah is Jesus. But they are right, the Lord will arrive from the Mount of Olives on a white horse and this gate will open. Ps 24:7-10 prophesies about the Lord’s return: “Lift up your heads, O gates, and be lifted up. O ancient doors, that the King of Glory may come in! Who is the King of Glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in Battle.”

The old walled city has eight gates and only this Eastern Gate is sealed, just as prophesied in Ezekiel 44. This gate awaits the return of the Messiah. Then and only then will it be opened. What gates are closed to you in your life? Ask the Lord to open them supernaturally. 2018 represents a year to be loosed from bondage and freely go through those gates. Jesus is truly coming soon for a church without spot or blemish. He wants to dissolve anything that stops your progress this year.

VOICE ACTIVATED VISION

020818.jpg

“So Ananias went and found the house, placed his hands on blind Saul, and said, “Brother Saul, the Master sent me, the same Jesus you saw on your way here. He sent me so you could see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” No sooner were the words out of his mouth than something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes—he could see again! He got to his feet, was baptized, and sat down with them to a hearty meal.”   Acts 9:18-19 (MSG)

Your words strike a chord in peoples hearts, bringing an “ah-ha” moment where they finally see what God is trying to show them.  Words can bring sudden download revealing the truth about a situation people have been blind about. Ananias had to face Saul, a blood thirsty religious Pharisee, famous for killing Christians. Saul was on the road to Damascus with arrest warrants for any believers he could find there, when he was “suddenly dazed by a blinding flash of light…” Acts 9:3-4. Saul’s encounter with the Lord was his turning point in life, but the light was so bright it blinded him. Then the Lord speaks to lowly Ananias to go and pray for this man. It must have seemed like David facing Goliath, but the Lord had spoken to Ananias and he knew he had to go through with it. When you are facing an intimidating situation or person, know that the Holy Spirit is fighting your battle for you. Rest in His peace and take it one step at a time. If you have heard His voice clearly, He will propel your vision. You will sense momentum.
